About Keystone
Our Story
Keystone Financial Group was founded in Lexington, Kentucky in June of 2008. From the beginning the vision was simple. Build an independent firm where the focus never leaves the client.
In the years that followed, that vision attracted others who shared it. Advisors across Kentucky, in Leitchfield, Somerset, Mt. Sterling, Ashland, and Louisville, chose to align with Keystone because they believed in the same thing: that independence and a genuine commitment to the client are not just values worth having, they are the foundation of a practice worth building.
That is how Keystone grew. Not by expanding into markets, but by earning the trust of advisors who wanted to do things the right way and clients who deserved nothing less.
Today Keystone Financial Group manages over $3.8 billion in total assets, with more than 40 advisors and team members serving clients from 8 Kentucky offices and communities across the country. The firm looks different than it did in 2008. The belief that built it has not changed.

Common Questions
Frequently asked questions
What does it mean that you're an independent firm?
Being independent means we're not tied to any single company's products or agenda. We have access to a wide range of financial solutions and choose what's right for each client, not what we're required to sell.
What does it cost to work with you?
There are no fees until an investment strategy is mutually agreed upon and a plan is set in place. We'll walk you through exactly how our fees work before anything is signed or implemented.
What types of clients do you typically work with?
We work with individuals and families at all stages of life, including people approaching retirement, business owners, young professionals building wealth, and those navigating major financial transitions. If you're looking for a long-term partner and not just a transaction, you'll fit right in.
Do I need a minimum amount of assets to get started?
We work with clients at a variety of financial starting points. The most important thing is that we're a good fit for each other, which is exactly what the first meeting is designed to find out.
How often will I hear from my advisor?
At minimum, we meet with clients twice a year. In the early stages of the relationship, many clients prefer more frequent check-ins, and we're happy to accommodate that. You'll also receive regular email updates on market conditions and their effect on your portfolio.
Are your advisors fiduciaries?
As a registered investment advisor, Keystone Financial Group is held to a fiduciary standard, meaning we're required to act in your best interest, not just recommend something suitable.
What is LPL Financial and what role do they play?
LPL Financial is our back-office partner and the custodian of client assets. Think of them as the infrastructure behind the scenes. They hold your investments, maintain your records, and send you reporting directly. Your relationship is with your KFG advisor. LPL simply ensures everything is handled securely and efficiently.
How do I get started?
The first step is a simple conversation with no paperwork and no commitment. Just a chance to get to know each other and see if we're the right fit. Reach out through our contact page and we'll set something up.
